Edinburgh, Scotland
After our trip from europe, and seeing so many beautiful cities in the world, its quite hard to impress us now. But our trip to Edinburgh has impressed us in a totally different way. Scotland is really nice. The people are nice, the place is relaxed and the sights, quite breathtaking.. like literally cos we have to climb the mountain.
After a 4 hour train ride from Manchester, we got to Edinburgh, and we decided to take our time a little bit more, walk a little slower and enjoy some "us" time. And we did, cos thats the way scotland is. There are benches everywhere on the streets for you to sit down and chill out. What makes it even more interesting is that the benches have names. I think people pay to put a bench in the city with a name of a loved one who has passed away. There is a short writeup of the person, usually very sweet and its really quite unique to see something like that.
So for the entire 2 days, we only walked the Royal Mile and the other main street called Regent Street or something and we climbed 2 mountains.. maybe more like hills. But it was tough. We weren't prepared to climb mountains when we were there though, but thank God for safety, we made it to the top.In the process, we also dirtied ourselves using hands and legs to climb the steeper parts, but yeah.. the satisfaction at the top, unbelievable. The hill is actually part of a park they call Holyrood Park, and the peak is where King Arthur sat, thus gaining its name Arthur's seat. The winds up there was really strong, i felt like i was almost gonna get blown down, but yeah, we found a nice spot to plant our bums on, and ta-da! it was time to chill again.
So thats essentially the whole experience of Edinburgh.. walking around to see some palaces, some weaving mill which makes scottish kilts, sitting down somewhere to enjoy ice cream and climbing mountains and eating fried rice and sandwiches on top of it. haha.
Pictures up!
